The Kinnikinnik Childcare Centre (KCCC) was officially opened on August 18, 1995, and has been offering quality childcare for children from infancy to school age, thanks to the financial support of the Canadian Forces Base Comox Non-Public Fund and the government of British Columbia, Ministry of Women’s Equality. Since opening, the KCCC has provided a number of high quality child care options to military and non-military families from throughout the Comox Valley.
KCCC offers full-time, part-time, and drop in care for children ages 6 months to 12 years. Programs include Infant & Toddler Care (6-36 mos), Daycare (ages 3-5 years), Kinder Care (Kindergarten and Grade 1) and Before and After School Care (Grade 2 +). The Centre is located across from 19 Wing Comox at 1405 Little River Road in Lazo. Spaces are limited and subject to availability.
The Before and After School program is located in building 119 and the KCCC main building. Children in Kindergarten - Grade 2 are located in the main building and children in Grades 3 - 6 are in the Annex building (right next door to main building). Each group has a maximum enrollment of 20 children with two staff supervising each group. The children are escorted to and from Airport Elementary School.
The children are busy with recreational activities, weekly swimming, computers, art projects, games and lots more exciting activities.
The Out of School Care Program is open full days during School closures (Pro D Days, March Break, Christmas Break). Special activities and fieldtrips will be scheduled for the children during the school breaks.
